• Edge sharpening (thinning of the tooth profile)Overall thinning of the wheel
• Deformation such as hooked or curled tooth tips (“tooth hooking”)
• Indentations at the base of the teeth
• Severe damage like fractured teeth

Replacement Criteria:

A drive wheel should be replaced when:

Tooth wear exceeds the manufacturer’s specified limits (typically assessed by measuring remaining tooth height or observing significant shape distortion).

Visible damage occurs, such as broken teeth or cracks.

For optimal performance, inspect the drive wheel when replacing the track chain links. Replacing only the track without addressing a heavily worn drive wheel can lead to accelerated wear on the new track—a phenomenon known as ”track consumption.”
